mslc10Anyone run their AC in recirculating mode? I can't without getting a cabin full of exhaust! This is while moving. Must be pulling it in from the trunk , I know the car doesn't seal very well but does anyone else have this ?
robinAnyone run their AC in recirculating mode

Mark you just update the exhaust correct .Maybe check there is no leak somewhere. Plus what kind of air filter are you using .
Replace with charcoal one that absorbs more particles.

Only other thing is cats could be clogging up.
Take it out for a good run.

Exhaust manifolds are suspect on these cars.

Robin....I do not believe our Prowlers have a 'cabin' type air filter. I don't believe a carbon engine air filter will help prevent fumes from entering the passenger cabin. Might be able to check that item off his list.

robinCorrect quincy.my mistake.
Brain fart.
Thanks
mslc10I have not run the ac in recirculating mode since my top has had slack in it, and running in fresh air mode keeps the top tight or “blown up”. But I went into the front of the top and restapled the top to tight it. Now top is tight . But have hit summer here with 100 degrees and wanted to make ac more efficient by using recirc mode, but as noted above, seems to suck in exhaust . I probably need to realign my trunk lid to make sure it is sealing properly.
But before I went thru all that headache again , I wanted to know if anyone uses recirc mode? And do they notice exhaust fumes in cabin? Thx!
quincyI do not use recirc mode....but, please pull the carpet up in your trunk and verify that you have the rubber transaxle dipstick plug present as well as the metal plate with 4 nuts and two plastic pin plugs present that covers the fuel tank. I believe those are the only two areas that fumes might enter the trunk system. This is a tough one to figure out. The cabin is sealed (assuming your windows are up all the way) and recirc just takes inside 'cabin' air and pushes it thru the 'A' coil for the A/C system and back into the cabin again. Time to have the entire exhaust system inspected by a knowledgeable shop.

The other entry point would be from the A/C condensate drain. If an exhaust leak is blowing toward the drain it might be able to work its way into the 'A' coil area and then back into the passenger compartment.

mslc10Thanks Quincy ,all plugs and plates in place. I have a feeling that my trunk lid is too far forward have larger gap lid-to-rear fascia than rest of gaps. Replaced hinges when I first got it due to , I think, the lid came open on previous owner. Hinges were definitely bent . So I may just need to realign trunk lid (sigh).
kayaksrfr1069I do use recirc and have never smelled exhaust
